New hardware products
Kinoma hardware is scriptable, open source, and designed for limitless customizability — with the developer’s choice of sensors and cloud services, as well as with connections to mobile devices, and other IoT hardware products.
Kinoma Create retails for $149.95, but will be sold to SXSW Tradeshow attendees, in Kinoma’s booth, for just $99.95.
Kinoma will show a module based on the PCB found in Kinoma Element. The hardware measures less than 20mm square and 1mm thick, approximately the size of a U.S. quarter. It illustrates how little space is required to run the full ES6 language on extremely constrained devices, and the possibilities of adding Wi-Fi and end-user scripting to any product.
Kinoma Element will be sold to SXSW attendees in Kinoma’s booth 401 for the retail price of $19.95.
New development tools
Kinoma Code is the new Integrated Developer Environment (IDE) to script apps for Kinoma Element and Kinoma Create, and is being demonstrated for the first time at SXSW. Kinoma Code is a fresh take on the IDE with a speed and simplicity that makes scripting apps for IoT devices accessible even to novice programmers. Documentation and over 100 sample projects are built in to kick-start projects and learn Kinoma APIs. Kinoma hardware simulators allow development using virtual devices and sensors.
Kinoma Code integrates tools not usually found in an IDE. Developers can configure Wi-Fi, reprogram hardware pins, update firmware, and scan network devices.
Kinoma Code is available to download for Mac OS X at http://kinoma.com/develop/code. Linux and Windows versions of Kinoma Code are planned for future release. Kinoma Studio, the original IDE for scripting KinomaJS apps, is available as a download for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.
To use KinomaJS Blocks, go to http://kinoma.com/develop/blockly/. It is free, and registration is not required.
